Off topic, but maybe not...an interesting publication from ATTRA on
food miles. About 80% of energy associated with food system is
consumed after the food leaves the farm (transportation, processing,
packaging, retail, restaurants, home refrigeration/preparation). This
document takes a close look at how that breaks out. I know some here
are considering the Young''s 100 mile locavore project, and I thought
this article might be informative about what else, in addition to just
miles, goes into the carbon footprint of our meals...
