Subject: Bluford, Ill
Good morning all:
Does any one have info on the facilities at Bluford during steam days?
I looked at google earth and the microsoft program and it looked like
there is nothing there. I can't even see a outline of a roundhouse. If
this was a major engine change point, there must have been a shop
complex.
I had the good fortune to have an uncle who worked for the IC from
about 1900-1947. They lived at 7025 S. Kimbark in Chicago. There back
porch over looked the 8 track main line of the IC. From the time I was
a little boy about 1939-40 until 1955 I spent a lot of time at there
house. So I remember a lot of steam power and the original Green
Diamond.
Any info on Bluford would be appreacted.
Chuck
